 Dress Code 

The Huron Academy dress code will be strictly adhered to. There will be no exceptions. If students report to school out of dress code they may be sent to the main office and a parent/guardian will be contacted to bring appropriate attire. Students will not be allowed to return to class until appropriately dressed.

 

Dress Code

The Huron Academy dress code will be strictly adhered to. There will be no exceptions. If students report to school out of dress code, they may be sent to the main office and a parent/guardian will be contacted to bring appropriate attire. Students will not be allowed to return to class until appropriately dressed.

  1. Students will wear uniform shirts (Polo type with collars). There are two color choices available: navy blue and white in both long and short sleeves. Solid colors only (no logos please). Shirts are to be tucked in at all times.
  2. Boys will wear uniform style, navy blue or khaki colored proportionately fit slacks. During warmer weather, they may wear uniform style, navy blue or khaki colored shorts that are knee length. No jeans, denim, joggers, or sweats.
  3. Girls will wear uniform style, navy blue or khaki colored proportionately fit slacks, skirts, skorts, shorts or jumpers. Shorts and skirts are to be no more than two inches above the knee. During warmer weather, they may wear uniform style, navy blue or khaki colored shorts that are knee length. No jeans, denim, yoga pants, leggings, joggers, or sweats. (Girls may wear solid white or navy colored leggings only when wearing a skirt, skorts, or jumper).
  4. Girls must wear a pair of matching bicycle type shorts underneath skirts or jumpers.
  5. Boys may wear socks of any color or pattern. Girls may wear socks or tights of any color or pattern. (Please refrain from logos, symbols, graphics, etc. that may be considered offensive.)
  6. Standard black or brown belts are to be worn when a garment has belt loops. (Kindergarten and First Grade excluded)
  7. Athletic, tennis, or gym shoes may be worn. These are preferred for safety reasons. Fashion boots may also be worn. Students may wear any color or pattern they wish. (Please refrain from logos, symbols, graphics, etc. that may be considered offensive.) No sandals, slippers, slides, Crocs (or similar), open toe shoes, or other styles not outlined above will be permitted. Snow boots may be worn in the winter to and from school but cannot be worn during the school day. Please bring shoes to change into.
  8. Solid colored sweaters, presentable looking sweatshirts, and zip up hoodies in navy blue and white may be worn on cold days. (No designs and no logos please, unless it is a Huron Academy sweatshirt.) These above items may be worn at any time as long as it is worn with a collared shirt.
  9. No excessive make-up or jewelry.
  10. Absolutely no hats and hoods are to be worn in the classroom, lunchroom, or hallways. Huron Academy logo hats may be worn on casual days only.
  11. Students are permitted to color their hair with parental permission. The Academy prefers student hair color and hair styles not be a distraction to others.
  12. Students are permitted with parental permission to apply nail polish to their fingernails. Nail polish cannot be offensive or inappropriate and nails should be clean and neat at all times.
  13. Students who belong to a school club, organization, or scouting may wear their club shirt on meeting days.
  14. Students should maintain proper hygiene at all times.

Some items may be deemed offensive, objectionable, and/or excessive and will be determined by the Administration.

The Academy recognizes the importance of individually-held religious beliefs. The Academy will try to reasonably accommodate students’ sincerely-held religious beliefs that are in conflict with this Dress Code Policy unless the reasonable accommodation would be detrimental to the educational process or cause any issues to the safety or welfare of others. Students requesting such reasonable accommodations should contact the School Leader.

Any other students requesting reasonable accommodations to the Dress Code Policy should also contact the School Leader.

Casual Dress Policy:

  1. On occasion, casual days may be announced and/or awarded to students.
  2. Students on these special days will be allowed to wear casual but clean clothing, including jeans and non-collared shirts with appropriate designs (Sports logos, designer insignias, loveable characters, etc…).
  3. Athletic, tennis, or gym shoes may be worn. These are preferred for safety reasons. Fashion boots may also be worn. Students may wear any color or pattern they wish. (Please refrain from logos, symbols, graphics, etc. that may be considered offensive.) No sandals, slippers, slides, Crocs (or similar), open toe shoes, or other styles not outlined above will be permitted. Snow boots may be worn in the winter to and from school but cannot be worn during the school day. Please bring shoes to change into.
  4. No pants with holes or tears in them will be permitted.
  5. Objectionable attire will not be allowed, which could include tank tops, spaghetti straps, tight fitting jeans, hip huggers, offensive language or pictorials on tops, or tops that do not tuck into pants allowing bare midriffs to show. Sleeves must be an appropriate width.
  6. No excessive jewelry and make-up.
  7. No hats and hoods of any kind may be worn indoors with the exception of the Huron Academy logo hat on casual days.
  8. Shorts and skirts are to be no more than two inches above the knee.
  9. Students choosing to wear leggings or yoga pants MUST wear an acceptable loose-fitting shirt that is no more than two inches above the knee.

Some items may be deemed offensive, objectionable, and/or excessive and will be determined by the Administration.
