Fifth Grade Teacher

This is my sixth year teaching at Huron Academy.  I truly love being an elementary school teacher and grateful to have such an amazing teaching team.  I am married to my wonderful husband Marcello and the mother of one son. My son will be 18 years old in September.

I graduated from Oakland University in 2004, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. My additional certifications are in Personal Training through The International Sports Science Association. I am also qualified to instruct yoga and Pilates.

My expectations are very high in the classroom. My main goal is to prepare your child to be  academically and socially successful as they progress through fifth grade while preparing them for the transition of  middle school. Infusing creative expression and positive thinking are some of the strategies that will be used in our classroom to encourage your child to ask questions, move forward and most importantly to believe in themselves.

I am an author and founder of the “About Me Program,” designed to inspire young people to recognize and unlock their potential through question asking. Students build self-esteem while learning to take responsibility for their own learning.  I have been multi-published in “Chicken Soup for the Soul,” book series. The creators of “Chicken Soup for the Soul,” are Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield.  I am the 2010 winner of the “Glamour Magazine and Pandora Jewelry” writing contest and had the opportunity to visit New York to celebrate while attending the “Annual Women of the Year Award Ceremony.” I hope to use these achievements to inspire my students into wanting to become young published authors themselves. I truly enjoy teaching all subject areas and love seeing the growth in all of my students.

For fun, I enjoy playing golf with my husband and friends and we love competing in golf competitions. I love being outdoors taking my son to all of his favorite places he enjoys going to such as: the beach, waterparks, The Cranbrook Science Center, zoo…etc.
