Art grew up in Shelby, Michigan. He attended Western Michigan University where he received his BS, MA, and Ed. Specialist degrees. His educational career includes teaching in the Three Rivers and Port Huron Public Schools. Art served in several administrative roles for many years in the Grant Public Schools as Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, and Principal of the high school.
