Mark Talbot

Currently serving as Principal at Huron Academy in Sterling Heights Michigan Mark Talbot has spent over two decades in the field of education.

Mr. Talbot began his career as a substitute teacher in Southeastern Oakland County as he pursued his undergraduate degree at Wayne State University.  Shortly after graduating Cum Laude in 1995 with a B.S. Ed and securing his Michigan teaching certificate Mr. Talbot accepted a position in the Detroit Public Schools as a middle school science teacher.

Eventually ending up at Lessenger Middle School on Detroit’s west side Mark became a lead teacher and curriculum writer in the Learning Educational Technologies in Urban Schools (LeTUS) program and was a driving force integrating technology into the middle school curriculum.  In 2001 Mark received his M.A.T. from Marygrove College as one of the top graduate students and was honored as the graduate school commencement speaker.  In the fall of that year Mark accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Huron Academy and served as such for ten years. Over that time some of the accomplishments include attaining North Central Accreditation, fourteen continuous years of recognition from Ferris State University for 100% state compliance through the Shining Star Award, the development of a first class character education initiative, and National awards in Entrepreneurship and Student Achievement.

In May of 2008, Mr. Talbot completed his second Master’s Degree in School Principalship at Central Michigan University with highest honors. Mr. Talbot maintains an administrator’s license and his teaching license with the State of Michigan. Mr. Talbot sustains membership in the Michigan Association of School Administrators, the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the Michigan Science Teacher Association and the Michigan Association of Public School Academies.
