Mrs. LaGorio

Music, Choir, and Band Director

Hi, I am Tiffany LaGorio, and I am excited to be the K-5th grade music and band teacher. This will be my 10th year teaching music.  Over the past 9 years, I have had a wide variety in my experience as a teacher.  I have taught both music and band, all grades Kindergarten through 12th grade, and in private and public schools.  This wide variety has allowed me to develop my teaching style and skills in order to better connect with my students and provide the best experience for young musicians.  I graduated in 2004 from University of Louisiana at Monroe in with a Bachelors of Music Education, specializing in instrumental music, in 2008 from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Christian Education, specializing in adolescent education, and in 2014 from DePaul University Chicago with my Orff-Schulwerk certification.

In my classroom, I adhere to the Orff-Schulwerk philosophy of music education, which is children learn through play!  Students can expect to be moving, imitating, and exploring personal expression through musical games, folk dancing, and playing instruments.  By exploring music in the classroom, students are able to think more creatively, become better problem-solvers, and learn to work well with their classmates. Needless to say, we rarely sit still in music, which is ideal for young elementary school students.
