Huron Academy believes that the development of a child’s character is crucial in the educational setting. We have incorporated character education into our school setting for several years and are led by the Smart Character Choices program. The focus in this area is teaching classroom and school-wide procedures and routines, proper social skills, manners, and character traits. The Academy focuses on several character traits throughout the school year including; Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, and Justice/Fairness. Students attend character assemblies, receive in class presentations, and receive character education incorporated into their academic curriculum.

Huron Academy endorses the continuing need for character education in the nation’s schools. Knowing that character drives personal, professional and civic decisions, we realize that character education programs are most effective when they are developed in concert with the local school community. Literacy Curriculum

Huron Academy educators care about the learning needs of children and want to see every child reach literacy milestones. Parents are valuable partners in helping their children succeed in school. One of the most important things a parent can do for their children is to read to them, starting at birth! They can help their children learn to read through simple, free, everyday activities done at home, while out in the community, or just about anywhere.

Huron Academy is committed to nurturing and developing a strong literacy foundation for all students in the early school years by implementing literacy instructional frameworks that prepare students to become independent readers and writers.

Preschool

Our preschool program is focused on the total development of each child in our classroom. Caring teachers and customized learning help prepare your child for kindergarten.

Kindergarten

A personalized learning environment helps capture the interest of each child as they begin to develop fundamental language, reading, writing and math skills.

Grades 1-2

Hands-on learning and innovative teachers help students expand and enhance their reading and writing skills and improve their speed and accuracy of math fundamentals.

Grades 3-5

Students are challenged to find solutions through strategic and creative thinking as they progress into more complex areas and gain confidence in applying skills in and out of the classroom.

Middle School

Technology-rich classrooms and continued hands-on learning helps middle school students advance their understanding and application of skills across all subject areas.
