Mr. Burke

Hello, my name is Eric Burke and I’m excited for my third year at Huron Academy. I grew up in Massachusetts before I moved to Michigan and sometimes my Boston accent will come out. I graduated from Oakland University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education and a minor in language arts. I  worked at Hope of Detroit Academy for five years as a sixth, fifth, and fourth grade teacher, before joining the Huron Academy family.  I enjoy working with children and believe it is important to build strong relationships.

Before I decided to become a teacher, I was an active duty member of the United States Army. I deployed to Afghanistan for a year and learned many valuable lessons that I carry with me. I am married and have a six year old daughter and a yellow Labrador Retriever. Reading and writing are my favorite hobbies, and I love sports, especially hockey.  Go Bruins!!
