First Grade Teacher

Hello Huron Huskies and their Families! My name is Jackie Desjardins and I am very excited to be teaching First Grade this year here at Huron Academy. I can’t believe I get to work alongside such passionate educators and be a part of your child’s education journey.  A little about me: I am a dog mom, I am in the process of moving to Canada and I have a Bachelors Degree in Child Development and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education.  I have worked with students from infant aged through sixth grade, and have found lower elementary to be my true passion.  It’s cheesy, but at this age everything is new and exciting and I love watching these students grow and develop into kind and capable people. My goal for all my students is to create a safe environment where learning happens through investigation to allow every child to build and master the skills needed to succeed throughout life.  Families are a crucial part of student success, so please feel free to contact me with questions or comments.
