Ms. Tanalski

Fifth Grade Teacher

Hello, my name is Tamera (Tammy) Tanalski.

I graduated from Central Michigan University (CMU) the spring of 2019 with a degree in Elementary Education with a focus in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). While at CMU I studied abroad in South Korea and participated in multicultural activities on campus. Prior to completing my degree, I interned in a first grade classroom in Mt. Pleasant and student taught in Battle Creek as an ESL teacher.

In addition to my degree requirements, internships, and volunteering experience working with kids, I’ve also substitute taught for two years, including in Huron Academy schools. Many of my observations hours over the past four years took place in Huron Academy school classrooms. Huron Academy was my first choice of schools to begin my teaching career, I’m excited to join the 5th grade team.

Fifth grade was a pivotal point in my own learning, I remember it clearly. This was a time of growing independence, strengthening studying skills, and reflecting on my own strengths and weaknesses as a learner. Most importantly, it was the time period I took responsibility for my own learning. I realized if I wanted to succeed it would be up to me. My classroom is strongly about individuality and finding our own groves in learning and I am here to help.

In my free time I enjoy broadening my knowledge of the world through traveling and earning to cook new cuisines. Finally I enjoy watching soccer, FC Barcelona is the main team I support.

Communication will be vital for success, feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
