A Message from Mr. Sobczak

Huron Academy Families,

The holiday season is well under way, and although this time of year can be hectic, lots of great things are happening at our school!

The vast majority of our school staff attended a two-day conference over the Thanksgiving break, and learned about some of the latest and greatest trends in education from educators all over the country. We’re all very excited to implement new activities and strategies to better serve our students.

Additionally, Science Olympiad, Robotics, and Girls Basketball are all under way and off to a great start, we have a few holiday concerts on the horizon, and the Santa Shop will be open soon (hopefully you get something cool this year!). In short, while things are cooling down outside, they’re heating up in our schools!

As things cool down outside, make sure your students are showing up to school with the proper winter gear – hats, gloves, scarves, boots, etc. If it is 15 degrees or warmer (factoring in the wind chill), students will be outside for recess, so be prepared! I recommend writing their names on winter gear, as well as keeping extras in their backpack – our lost and found is filled with such items every year, and we don’t want our kids to miss out on recess because they lost an item!

Finally, during this holiday season, it’s not uncommon for families to take vacations or days off for various events. However, please make sure you are reaching out to our offices to let us know about absences, and please remember that after 15 absences, we are obligated to notify the Macomb County truancy office. We need our kids in school as much as possible!

Wishing you all a joyous and relaxing holiday season.

Sincerely,

Joshua Sobczak

The deadline to register has been extended, so please reach out to myself, Mrs. Whitehead, or Ms. Jagot if interested! There are fundraising opportunities to make the cost more affordable as well. We’d love to see you on this trip!
