Volume 2, Issue 9
The month of May brings warm weather and lots of fun activities; it also brings back a lot of sports, graduations, clubs, and other afterschool obligations, all while finishing up state tests and end-of year grades. In short, things can get very busy this time of year, but it’s important to stay diligent these last weeks of school. Getting to bed at a decent hour, eating breakfast every day, staying up-to-date on Powerschool and Class Dojo, and checking your children’s folders/backpacks are all ways to ensure that your family ends the school year on a strong and positive note.
There are a number of events coming up this month that are fun for the whole family this month, from our band concert to our 2nd annual kickball game (this time, teachers vs. staff); we hope you are able to make it out to these events!
Another event on the horizon will be Mrs. Bremerkamp’s memorial. As you know by now, our beloved principal passed away on April 4th. In accordance with her wishes, there will be a small private luncheon on Sunday, June 9th; at 5pm on that same day, we will be planting a tree and dedicating a garden in her memory. There will be music, food and beverages, and backyard games like cornhole and frisbee. Paula loved the warmer months, she loved gardening, and she loved summertime gatherings of friends and family; as such, this seems like an appropriate celebration of life for our friend who spent two decades serving the Huron Academy community. Again, we hope to see you there.
The amount of support our school has received from our families has been heartwarming to say the least, and I thank you all for it. She would have loved to see how we can all come together for the greater good. So as mentioned earlier, let’s do all we can to end the year on a strong note – not just for our families, but for the honor of Mrs. Bremerkamp’s legacy.
Sincerely,
Joshua Sobczak,
Superintendent
