Huron Academy Families,

Welcome to the start of the 25-26 school year!  I’m incredibly excited about all of the things we have in store for this year, from new classes to new staff to new curriculum to our PreK-2 and 3-8 campuses FINALLY merging.

A new school year always brings new routines for families, and this year will be no different.  There are new times, drop-off/dismissal routines, and uniform expectations depending on the grade of your student(s).  Most of these changes have already been communicated, but watch your email and our social media pages closely for the latest updates.  Additionally, some of these new routines can be created by you and your family!  There are a number of ways to kick-off the year on a positive note in terms of establishing new routines, including:

  1. Consistent Evenings & Restful Nights
Children thrive on routine. Setting a regular bedtime and including quiet activities like reading helps ensure students come to school focused and ready to learn.
  2. Create a “Launch Pad”
Designate a spot near the door for backpacks, lunchboxes, homework, and shoes. This simple step cuts down on morning stress and forgotten items.
  3. Daily Check-In
Take 10 minutes each evening to talk about the day—one success, one challenge, and one thing your child is excited about tomorrow. It builds confidence and communication.
  4. Tech-Free Time Together
Carve out 20–30 minutes each day without screens—during dinner, reading, or a family activity. This helps kids reset and encourages stronger connections.
  5. Start the Day Positively
Create a morning ritual such as listening to a favorite song, sharing a goal, or a quick affirmation. A positive start makes a big difference in the classroom.

As always, you’ll have to determine what works best for your family, but even small changes can have big impacts!

I’m looking forward to experiencing these big impacts with you all, and can’t wait to share the 25-26 school year with you and all of our students!

Sincerely,

Joshua Sobczak,
Superintendent
