A Message from Mr. Sobczak

Huron Academy Families,

March is here, which means it is Reading Month! Our school has always had a lot of fun celebrating March is Reading Month, and this year is no different. From special themed-days to contests to guest readers (including a state senator!), it’s sure to be a great month for students and staff alike.

Whether it’s March or any of the other months, I can’t encourage families to bring the joy of reading into their homes enough. Setting aside at least 30 minutes a day to read does wonders academically and emotionally, and it’s also a great wind-down activity before bed (I know my parents know what I’m talking about!). So make it a goal for your family members to spend more time reading than staring at screens, carry that good habit past this month, and enjoy the benefits you’ll start to see!

In many ways, this is a “recharge” month. Not only are there lots of opportunities for reading breaks, but it’s also the end of the 3rd quarter. Conferences are the best way to recap the progress of the past few months, while ensuring that you and your child’s teacher have a plan in place to guarantee a strong 4th quarter and end of the school year.

Finally, we will be on Spring Break for the last week of the month. Whether you are travelingor staying home, it’s a great opportunity to relax, read, and recharge for the end-of-year stretch. Our spring testing will begin shortly after our return, so make sure to take advantage of the downtime while it’s here!

So enjoy this fun month, have a safe break, to those that celebrate, have a Happy Easter, and we’ll see you in April.
