Volume 3, Issue 9
Huron Academy Families,
May is our last full month of the school year, and it’s also one of the busiest times of the year. We are still doing our testing (with some great effort prizes for students), there are a slew of field trips and family activities planned, and students are doing everything from fun outdoor science experiments to multimedia presentations on novels they’ve read.
If there’s one thing I know about this time of year, it’s that kids (and especially parents!) can easily get tired and/or overwhelmed with so much happening. There are a number of ways your family can help ensure that your students have a successful end of their school year, including:
- Get off devices, turn off the TV, and get outside – it’s good for their young brains!
- Ensure they get a good night of sleep every night.
- Go to the fun events, but make time for your family to have days to relax at home as well. Find that balance!
- Monitor PowerSchool regularly and frequently. It’s easy for assignments to slip through the cracks, but once the gradebook closes for the year, we can’t do anything about it.
- Talk to your children about their school day and their activities/lessons that they engaged in. Let them know you’re encouraging them to have a strong finish to the 24-25 school year!
This is an exciting time at our school, but never forget, this time of year is a marathon, not a sprint! Pace yourself and plan accordingly so your kids make the most of the end of the year in a way that brings joy and pride to your family.
Sincerely,
Joshua Sobczak,
Superintendent

- With summer road construction picking up, traffic is getting worse in our community. Plan accordingly so your students aren’t late for drop-off and pick-up, and please follow parking lot guidelines so it’s a smooth process for all families.
- Summer Academy’s registration deadline was on April 25th. Confirmation emails will be coming soon. If you missed the deadline, but are still interested, you must reach out to the administration for consideration.
- Be sure to sign up for School Messenger notifications if you haven’t already done so, as well as follow us on social media – this is a great way to stay in the loop with all things Huron Academy!
- Uniform order forms are available! Remember, next year the white/navy options are phased out and it is house shirts only.
- Our PTC meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month (with the exception of various holidays/events). It’s a great way to stay connected while supporting our school. Consider attending to learn more!
- Check the lost and found for anything missing from this year; items will be donated at the end of June.
